The valley of Vipava is perhaps best known for its wineyards and wine-making tradition. In this area rare autochthonous grape sorts Zelen and Pinela are grown, along with more international white ones like Sauvignon, Beli pinot (Pinot blanc), Chardonnay, Rebula, or red ones like Merlot (also cultivated in barique), Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera.
However, the steep rocks overlooking the town of Vipava, in midst of the lush Mediterranean vegetation, provide also some thrill of adventure for a climbing newcomer.
